Dental Implants

AtArmagh Dental Clinic, we currently do not provide dental implant treatment on-site. However, our Practice Principal and our sister clinic, Precision Implant Clinic, offer a highly experienced and dedicated implant service.

Dental implants are an excellent way of replacing one or more missing teeth. All of our dentists are happy to discuss dental implants with you, explain your options, and refer you to our sister clinic where their experienced implant dentists can provide a full assessment and treatment plan.

Dental Implants

What is a dental implant?

A dental implant is a small titanium post that is placed into the jawbone to act as an artificial tooth root. Once healed, it can support a crown, bridge, or denture, providing a strong, stable and long-lasting replacement for missing teeth.
  • Fixed and secure solution (does not move like a denture)
  • Natural look and feel
  • Helps preserve jawbone and facial structure
  • Does not rely on neighbouring teeth for support
  • Can improve confidence, comfort, and function

Dental implants are often considered a more stable and long-term alternative to dentures.

Implants:

  • Fixed in place
  • Feel more like natural teeth
  • Do not require removal
  • Help maintain bone levels

Dentures:

  • Removable
  • Can sometimes feel less secure
  • May move during eating or speaking
  • Require ongoing adjustment over time

In some cases, implants can also be used to stabilise dentures (implant-retained dentures), improving comfort and function significantly.

Dental implants are a long-term solution. On average, they last around 10–12 years or longer, although many can last significantly longer with good oral hygiene and regular maintenance.

Implant placement is often more comfortable than patients expect. In many cases, it can be easier than having a tooth removed.

  • Treatment is carried out under local anaesthetic
  • Sedation options are available at our sister clinic
  • Most patients experience minimal discomfort
  • Any soreness typically settles within 24 hours

Not all patients require a bone graft. This depends on the amount and quality of bone available in your jaw.

If a bone graft is needed, it helps provide a stable foundation for the implant and can improve long-term success. It may cause slightly more swelling or discomfort initially, but it is a routine and predictable procedure.

As a general guide, dental implants typically start from approximately £2,400 per tooth.

A full and accurate cost can only be provided after a detailed consultation, as treatment can vary depending on your individual needs.

Not always. Implants can often be used more efficiently:

  • Two implants can sometimes support a bridge replacing three teeth
  • Multiple implants can support a full arch of teeth
  • Implants can be used to stabilise full dentures (implant overdentures)

Your treatment plan will be tailored to your specific situation.

Suitability for dental implants is determined following a detailed assessment at our sister clinic.

This typically includes:

  • Clinical examination
  • 3D scans (CBCT) and X-rays
  • Photographs and digital scans
  • Review of your medical history
  • Assessment of factors such as smoking and gum health

Following this, a personalised treatment plan will be created and discussed with you in detail.
